This was challenging but the scenery is absolutely stunning. I loved doing this and the volunteers are so amazing and welcoming. They really encouraged me when I was tiring near the end.

Awesome Half Marathon

This is a brutal but awesome half marathon through some spectacular scenery that IOW has to offer.

My only tow small grips are, it’s says it’s a festival when it’s not really. Maybe some additional stalls, subject of course on the amount of runners.

Also the medal needs to be different, it’s basically the same as last years.

But these are minor things.

All in all myself and my running friends from A&D RRC enjoyed it.

Thank you.

Properly cross-country with many challenging hills, and there can’t be many races with more beautiful views!

Tough but fair course over Heddon and Tennyson

Another extremely well organised and marshalled event put on by the organisers. The weather played ball (unlike the 10k the day before)!
The course includes beachside running and panoramic views from the top of Heddon and Tennyson. Be warned, both are a tough ascent to get to those views!
Marshals and organisers, as ever, deserve medals themselves.

Great event in the worst conditions ever!

Despite a howling gale and driving rain the organisers put on a great event. Got bless those poor volunteer marshals stuck out in the wilds of Wedt Wight in that weather. They deserve a medal more than us runners!
The route was a bit uneven under foot as part of it crossed recently cut fields of sillage and technical stretches of wooded trail, but we were warned. Possibly not an event for a beginner as a result.
Best of all, access to hot showers after being battered by a storm!

Excellent Trail run experience

Linda, as last marshal as runners run/stagger to the finishing line found runners who were particularly tired found it hard to see the gateway into the finish line. Several runners staggered aimlessly across the field without picking up the gate markers which were not easily visible from the entrance gate. Suggest markers further out possibly at the point where there is a path that crosses the field.

Tough but beautiful views

Extremely pretty route even as an islander we ran through places I had never been before !
The Marshalls were very friendly and helpful and the sweeties were lovely
I would have liked more distance markers though
And I felt the wooden medal was underwhelming for the entry fee so

Beautiful, challenging & super friendly locals

A very challenging XV route through coastal paths, gravel tracks, hilly roads, beach, steps, cliffs ! Excellently sign posted and Marshalls at key points means you are unlikely to go wrong! Locals out on route were very friendly and supportive. Beautiful scenery when you had the energy to look up

Beautiful but brutal

A lovely race, well marshalled and super scenic route. To go from sea level to one of the highest points on the island is tough but whilst a tough race it is worth the effort.

Signage in the 7-8 mile section could be a little better but not a massive issue.

Marshals were brilliant and friendly. Not massive amounts of spectators but those there were enthusiastic I think I saw one group about three different times on the routes who were super supportive.

There are hills, beach, steps, stiles, gates, puddles, footpaths, grass and the odd bit of paved road.

It is a big recommendation from me.

Friendly and fun run for all

Despite the awful weather the Tapnell 10k race was a great event. It is just a simple run and lots of fun. The Marshalls, event Directors and other competitors were so friendly and welcoming it was a great run. Thanks

Super friendly supportive volunteers, very well organised with a variety of terrains. A great event for someone wanting to push themselves beyond a park run. I’d love to try it again without the wind and rain!

Scenic beautiful although challenging run

When I was visiting and found out a run was on I could not miss it! This is one of my favourite runs ever, it was really hard but stunning scenery - we were lucky with the weather. Thank you to all the organisers, Marshalls and anyone else involved

Excellent run

The route that has it all! Running through countryside, along the coastline and on the beach. And the very BEST volunteers!
Give it a go, you won't be disappointed!
